Dominica ::

Christopher Columbus discover Dominica on a sunday and gave the island the spanish name for Sunday. Locals claim that it's the only island the explorer would still recognize today: and it's true it hasn't changed a lot. It has the largest populations of indigenous Caribs in the Caribbean. It's not on the main Caribbean tours mostly because the islands lacks good beaches. But it makes up for this by great mountain scenery - a 1500 meter high volcano -, sprakling streams, waterfalls and lush green forests.

Most of the exciting attractions on the island invlove hikinh: a hike to Boiling Lake, Middleham Falls or the Valley of Desolation are great!

Roseau is the capital of the island. It's a nice and quite busy city that deserves a visit. It is also a good starting point for visiting Emerald Pool}. Carib Territory is another must see. Here you find the carib people living in a 3,700 acre reserve.

The main historic sight is Fort Shirley once an important English outpost but now reclamed by jungle. It's a lot like Temple of Doom.
